Good morning!
Yea for Saturdays! Boo for cruddy runs!
This morning I woke up ready to tackle my 12 mile run. I’m following the Rookie Marathon Training Plan from RunnersWorld.com. Even though I’m not a rookie marathoner (I’ve completed 6), this training plan seems to work for me year after year.
I actually saved the training plan image on my computer and cross through each week as I get closer to the marathon.
I don’t follow it strictly. I adapt it to work with my schedule. I usually move the Tuesday and Thursday workouts to Monday and Wednesday, respectively, throw in a 3 miler on Friday, and do the long run on Saturday morning. Running 4 days a week is enough for me. My body gets waaaay too tired when I run 5 or more days a week.
Like I said, a 12 miler was my goal for this morning. I woke up around 6:30 A.M. and ate a banana with cinnamon raisin pb. I then filled my bottle with O.N.E. Coconut Water and tap water and grabbed a GU energy gel.
I headed out around 7:30. Boy, was it a humid morning! It was cloudy, which I appreciated, but goodness it was miserable hot! It even drizzled for a few early miles. The rain felt nice, but once it stopped, the humidity was even worse than before. Blah! It was not the best run (again), but I just put one foot in front of the other and kept moving forward. That’s all you can do sometimes.
Here’s my run:
I think I’m smiling, because I finished the full 12!
Once back, I wanted to refuel as quickly as possible. Last night I whipped together V.O.O.s: oats, brown rice protein powder, chia seeds, almond milk, mashed 1/2 banana, cinnamon raisin pb, and topped with cacao nibs, unsweetened coconut, and drizzle of maple syrup this morning.

A good combo of carbs, protein, and [healthy] fat to get my recovery started right!
Ummm…Jackie-dog looks pretty bored.
Think I’m gonna take her to some trails for a nice walk.
Have a wonderful day!

I say boo! to cruddy runs as well! I NEVER chafe and somehow I got it under both arms this morning…wierd….and OW!
Ow, indeed! You might try covering the area in vaseline next time. Works on my toes!
